The chatter around the Chicago Bulls is loud. Fans are screaming to ship Josh Giddey out of town. They claim he doesn’t fit the new timeline. They think younger picks like Matas Buzelis are more important. That’s a huge mistake.

The data shows Giddey is the key to this rebuild.

The Stats Tell A Clear Story

People forget how young Giddey actually is. He’s only 23 years old. He’s shown steady growth every single season. Last year, he shot the three-ball with more confidence than ever before. According to Pippen Ain’t Easy, his assist rate last season was over 41%. That number is massive. The Bulls need a facilitator to make life easy for their even younger stars. Giddey provides exactly that. He helps players get open looks. He’s a playmaker who elevates everyone around him.

His defense has also improved. Some fans call him a liability. That view is wrong. Throughout his tenure wearing a Bulls uniform, he has remained positive in defensive plus/minus. This proves he isn’t nearly as bad as the noise suggests. He has the maturity to know his role. He understands how to help a developing team. Why trade a guy who makes everyone better?

Why Wilson Needs Giddey

The future of this team relies on new talent. In the 2026 NBA Draft, the Bulls selected Caleb Wilson using the No. 4 pick. Wilson showed great scoring chops in Summer League. But the NBA is a different game. He’ll need help to get to his spots. Pippen Ain’t Easy states that Giddey serves as the top playmaker for the Bulls. He is one of the better playmakers in the entire NBA. He can help Wilson thrive as a scorer from Day 1.

Wilson needs to develop chemistry with Giddey. He needs to get in the gym with him. Focus on building synergy. A great partnership is essential. If Giddey creates consistent, quality looks for Wilson, the rookie’s season will run much smoother. A fair amount of possession time will belong to Wilson. He will be tasked with creating for himself. The better it becomes if Giddey can secure more open shots for him. This boosts confidence. It aids growth. It helps the whole team.

Stop The Trade Rumors Now

The front office has sent a clear message. No one is untouchable on the roster. Hundreds of posts on social media showcase hypothetical Giddey trades. They say he is not important. This is short-sighted thinking. Giddey is perhaps the ultimate fit for this team. He has the experience of a veteran point guard. Yet he has the age of a player who can still add to his game. He has provided excitement during down years (2023-2024). That is what the fans desperately needed.

Is he tradeable? Yes. Any player can be moved for the right package. But there is no situation where the Bulls should be actively shopping a guy who makes everyone better. He is not even 24 years old. Let Giddey develop. Let him help the younger core grow around him. If the Bulls want to get back in the playoffs, they need this duo. Do not break up the team before it even starts.

Do you think the Bulls should trade Giddey for a veteran star, or is he the answer? Let us know in the comments.
