Forget Maxx Crosby. The Chicago Bears and Detroit Lions can stop dreaming about his pass rush right now. According to a report from Sporting News, the star defensive end “does not appear to be going anywhere,” was identified by League sources to Adam Schefter of ESPN. This is a hard stop for any team hoping to snag him before the trade deadline on November 10.
Crosby has made his feelings clear to the Las Vegas Raiders. Unlike last year, when he questioned his future, he now says he wants to stay in Las Vegas. One source told ESPN that “Maxx absolutely does not want to leave Las Vegas under any circumstances.” His hope is to remain a Raider for life. That means the Cowboys, Bears, and Lions are all out of luck on this specific deal.
The Real Target Is Khalil Mack
Since the Raiders are off limits, the Bears need to look at their own history. The team is still hunting for pass rush help after trading for Jeffery Simmons. NFL Insider Jordan Schultz told Windy City Gridiron that he “don’t think either team is done” looking for upgrades. He noted that Chicago still wants another pass rusher and secondary help.
That target has a name: Khalil Mack. The Los Angeles Chargers are winless at 0-7, which makes a trade possible. Yahoo Sports reported that Ian Rapoport thinks a reunion with the Bears “wouldn’t be surprised” given the need for edge help. Mack spent four seasons in Chicago and knows the system. He is a future Hall of Famer who can change a game instantly.
Mack addressed the noise on November 1 after the Chargers lost again. He said, “You’ve got to be where your feet are man, ultimately.” He added that dealing with outside noise is tough but he tries to focus on what he can control. He did not say he wants a trade, but the Chargers might be forced to listen.
The Price Tag and The Deadline
The Bears have a shot if they pay the right price. A fifth-round pick could start the deal, with a sixth-round selection making it more appealing if Los Angeles gets desperate. The Bears do not have a fourth-round pick in 2027 since they used it to get Simmons. They must act fast because the deadline is Tuesday, November 10, at 3:00 PM CT.
One NFL GM told Heavy.com that “Chicago doesn’t have to trade him” regarding backup QB Tyson Bagent, who might be used as a chip. The Ravens are already making Bagent their top pursuit. This shows the Bears are willing to move parts of their roster to fix the defense. They cannot afford to wait on a deal that might not happen.
The window to get a game-changer is closing fast. If the Bears miss on Mack, they miss out on a massive upgrade for the Caleb Williams era. The Raiders are staying put, so the Bears must pivot to the only star left on the board.
